Icon | Explanation |
Edit Page: Edit the content of the selected page.
Page Status - Active Page: Shows that a page is active; its button is visible in the menu and the page is accessible by both admin and website visitors.
Page Status - Inactive Page: Shows that a page is inactive; its button is not visible in the menu (unless sub-pages exist) and the page is not accessible by website visitors via a direct link, returning a "this page is unavailable" message instead. However, the admin can still view the page via the Administration Panel, making this ideal for archiving pages that you do not want to delete or for just keeping them inactive while you complete work on them. Inactive pages are excluded from the Site Map.
Default Metadata: Shows that a page is using default metadata; keywords and descriptions are what search engines use (secondary to body copy) to index your website pages and increase the likelihood of users clicking on indexed results. Both can be set globally in the Metadata Manager. Descriptions should ideally be unique to each page and should contain no more than 265 characters. Typically, however, only the first 150 characters (including spaces) are displayed in the search engine results pages.
Custom Metadata: Shows that a page is using custom metadata; keywords and descriptions are what search engines use (secondary to body copy) to index your website pages and increase the likelihood of users clicking on indexed results. Both can be set for individual pages via the Page Manager and Sub-Page Manager. Custom metadata overwrites all default metadata. If no custom metadata is set, default metadata is used instead. Descriptions should ideally be unique to each page and should contain no more than 265 characters. Typically, however, only the first 150 characters (including spaces) are displayed in the search engine results pages.
Menu Order - Move To End: Set the order of page buttons as they appear in the menu. This action always moves an item to the end of the list/menu so click items in turn, from first to last, to order your menu. It is also worth taking the time to order pages with hidden/hidden (locked) menu buttons ( / ) and pages in the "- Uncategorised (not in menu) -" menu group as they will all be listed on the Site Map in the same order as they appear in the Page Manager and Sub-Page Manager.
Menu Status - Visible: Shows that a page has a visible button in the menu.
Menu Status - Visible (locked): Shows that a page has a visible button in the menu that cannot be hidden due to the existance of sub-pages. The logic here is that if you were to hide a main page button from the menu, all of its sub-page menu buttons would be hidden too.
Menu Status - Hidden: Shows that a page button is hidden from the menu; the button does not appear in the menu but the page is still active on the server and visible by both admin and website visitors via the Site Map or a direct link. Typically used for pages holding additional information that don't need to be advertised in the menu. (e.g - a "Terms & Conditions" page). Pages with hidden/hidden (locked) menu buttons are included on the Site Map.
Menu Status - Hidden (locked): Shows that a page button is hidden from the menu. The hidden (locked) icon is displayed when a page has no sub-pages and is also set as inactive (rules for inactive pages also apply). A hidden (locked) menu button can only be made visible again once the page has been activated .
Backup Page: Make a backup of the selected page content on the sever.
Preview Backup: View the selected backup page stored on the server.
No Preview: There is no backup page available to view on the server.
Restore Backup: Restore the selected backup page stored on the server.
No Restore: There is no backup page available to restore on the server.
Rename /Alias: Rename or set a menu alias for the selected page. Renaming a page will change the text on the menu button (subject to special character cleansing/replacement and case-change) but will also change the web URL/link address of the page on the server. Think carefully about renaming established pages as static links that you may have created within page content elsewhere around your website will break. Setting a menu alias allows you to change the text that appears on a menu button without altering the web URL/link address of the page on the server. A menu alias is not cleansed and all special and upper/lower-case characters are preserved. Pages using a menu alias are indicated by a red asterisk (*) in the Page Manager and Sub-Page Manager which, if you hover your cursor over, will generate a tooltip that displays the menu alias in full .
Move Page: Move the selected page (without sub-pages) to another menu group.
Delete Page: Delete the selected page (along with all of its sub-pages).
No Action: "Default" pages have certain actions restricted to protect the integrity of the website. This grey cross indicates when an action is not available. |
